DDLab Mac readme: Jan 2025 update ------------------------------------------------------------------- The following file ddlabz13_mac.tar.gz contains the mac 64bit executable ddlabz13_mac and GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE available at http://www.ddlab.org/download/ddlab_compiled_Jan2025/ and mirror sites. This executable was complied for the M series 64bit ARM Apple Silicon processor (M2-pro) running MacOS Sonoma v14.5 with XQuartz 2.8.5 (xorg-server 21.1.6). It has been tested on Sequoia 15.2. Thanks to Ed Coxon, who goes on to say... ... it is likely this compile will run on all Macs sporting Apple Silicon ie M1 M2 M3... processors. Older and newer Mac OS version may be more variable. Run DDLab from a terminal in X11, which must be installed. From the directory with the DDLab files, enter the name of the executable (renamed ddlabz13) preceded by ./ and followed by &, for example ... ./ddlabz13 & Alternatively, first change directory to "ddfiles" then enter the name of the executable preceded by ../ and followed by & ../ddlabz13 & This will keep files generated by DDLab in the ddfiles subdirectory. --------------------------------------------------------------------- You can recompile DDLab yourself from the source code using Makefile_Mac_Monterey_z12 provided in http://www.ddlab.org/download/ddlab_code_Sept2024/ or adapt the this Makefile for your Mac. DDLab would appreciate news of alternative compiles. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Note on missing hash "#" from some mac keyboards: "#" is used for some on-the-fly options, for example, to toggle scrolling space-time patterns. If "#" is missing as in "MacBook Retina 2016", it can be made with alt(option)3, the alt or option key and key 3. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
